Laser engraving is used on many types of surfaces, the most common in the world of personalized business gifts, wood, metal, leather or derivatives, glass or rubber.

In the first place, we highlight that there is no direct contact between the part to be engraved and the head of the machine through which the laser beam comes out.

And secondly, we highlight that the effect that the laser causes is like wear and tear, and the color and appearance varies according to the surface to be marked, it is not the same to make personalized wooden pencils, where the effect is like burning, then to make pens personalized metallic or metal keyrings or other materials.

The precision and detail of laser engraved logos are usually quite high, although it also depends a lot on the surface to be engraved. And having said all this, what better than seeing in action a laser machine engraving pencils and something as curious as rubber shoes.

The laser beam operates at a high temperature to evaporate the material. This process creates a notch in the surface of the part by physically removing material. The cavity thus produced is not only visible on the surface, thanks to the contrast created, but also perceptible to the touch.

Generally, the engraved areas turn black. Multilayer materials offer an interesting alternative because they allow engraving in other colors: the engraving process, by removing the upper layers of the part, reveals the lower layers, which can be of a different color.

Another variation of laser engraving is relief engraving, which makes it possible to create a deep engraving at different heights. This option is undoubtedly the most impressive because it allows achieving results close to wood carving. For relief engraving, you will need to find a grayscale model and adjust your laser to translate the different values into different heights.
